About Our Logo

The three intersecting rectangles of The Portico's logo represent the fact that we all come to our journey of faith from different directions and from different places.

If these "porticos" were 3-dimensional, it would be easy to imagine them pointing in any any direction as they swing on their independent axes.  Likewise, we all come into the community of faith from many varied places.  Yet as we enter a common journey of discipleship, we all begin a process of "emerging" toward a common goal.

The common goal of our community is that of merging our individual faith journeys into the wondrous organism called the church as we all emerge together into whatever future God calls us to.

There is a sense that the journey of faith is always "emerging" - thus the "other side" of the logo is never distinct with any image.  Whatever is "out there" on the other side of the never ending process of being reformed by God's grace is both elusive and an integral part of our faith journey, always revealed in God's time, not ours.

As did Abraham leaving Ur of the Chaldees "toward a land that I will show you," The Portico Logo reminds us all that we continue on a similar journey where the future, while dim perhaps to human eyes, has already been seen and created by God's grace. We are invited to co-create that future with God.
